HOTEL 4: SILKA MAYTOWER, KL

"NOT SURE"

October workshop and this time it was at Silka Maytower Hotel. This hotel is located just opposite of the new Jakel Mall and beside Semua House, yes Semua House and SOGO (which means -> JALAN TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN or JALAN TAR, the heaven of textiles! Full of Textile Shops!!! For me the best place with the best textiles with good bargains and discounts in Kuala Lumpur). How to get there via LRT? You can choose either Bandaraya LRT Station or Dang Wangi Monorail Station.

Anyway, you still have to walk around 10 minutes from both of the stations to reach Silka Maytower Hotel. This hotel is a three star hotel, the rate is adequate, you can get promo rate from RM139++ per night. But, don't get your hopes too high ok. Why? We booked via booking.com for a superior queen room for RM140 per night. The promo rate pictures showed a very comfortable room, hubby and me immediately booked the room for three nights, we thought very good pricing for the type of room showed based on the promo pictures. However...jeng jeng jeng...

The ROOM

In my whole life, this was the most narrow and cramped hotel room I had ever stayed in. (the below pics). Hey I understand that in Japan or maybe other countries, this type of hotel room is normal but come on!!!! We were in Kuala Lumpur!!! I could get a better room at The Grand Campbell Hotel which is actually located just beside Silka Maytower Hotel!! Unbelievable, we were cheated. They could even display the supposed to be promo rate with the supposed to be pictures, which are pictures of a totally different room at the lobby.

The BATHROOM

Well, what can i say? Marvellous? UUHHHMMMM NO. The tiles were dirty, the water pressure MY GOODNESS, TERRIBLE, too slow!! We had to take a very long time for shower since instead of supposedly pouring rain shower, we got drizzles. Difficult for number one business since we are muslims and really need to be clean in order to perform our prayers. But I have to be fair, they do provide good amenities, complete with a sewing kit."Kiblat" direction provided for muslims to perform their prayers. However, no praying mat is provided, must bring one yourself (a minus for me). Adequate closet and place for extra luggages, flat-screen tv, mini fridge, complimentary bottled water, electrical kettle provided and In-Room Dining service available, menu provided.

PARKING

The pick up/drop area is ok. The parking is located in the upper levels, so far ok (safe), they have security guards patrolling. Silka Maytower is a residential service suites as well, so of course they have to provide good security for the residents.

LOBBY

The lobby is comfortable enough (just enough), not that spacious. The staffs are ok (they don't smile that much). Except the dining area staffs, hmmm the servers have quite an attitude but it's okay since dining area is for dining only ( I avoided any possible verbal contact with them).

LA MAISON

La Maison Restaurant is Silka's dining restaurant. I have yet to taste their breakfast, because I just didn't feel like eating breakfast there..Why? Because I didn't get good impressions on their food based on the lunch buffet served at this place. Edible. I wouldn't call it buffet since they only served one type of vegetable dish, a type of chicken/fish dish, white rice, a few condiments. Yes, basically just so so. What to do?!!! I love food!!!!! And I was disappointed. Dinner time hmmmmm (no comment). The desserts hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (still no comment).
